Meta is cracking down on accounts that steal other users’ content (mostly videos) and repost them, even if they don’t claim it as their own work to reduce spam.
On Monday, Meta announced that creators that reuse someone else’s content over and over again will result in a demonetization for “a period of time” and see limited visibility across the platform.
“Too often, the same meme or video pops up repeatedly — sometimes from accounts pretending to be the creator and other times from different spammy accounts,” the company explained in its blog post. “It dulls the experience for all and makes it harder for fresh voices to break through.”
If you know anyone that makes money on Facebook from theft, warn them now!
